How do you make a brick path straight?
I want to make a brick edged pathway in my front yard from my entry door to my driveway. This area of my yard gets very muddy in winter. I want to edge the path with brick and fill the path with some simple white lymestone. How do I keep the pathway straight and at the same width for the length of my path? It's a simple straight pathway no fancy curves for this project. The distance is 45' in length.

Use 2x4 on each side to make straight and when done remove
Kim....You will need to dig out a little so the brick will be in the ground good plus need each leveled. Use string to line it out from end to end and on both sides. Hope this helps!
Kim,
Check out the article below. You will not need to do all of the steps you see because you are going to fill the walkway with stone. Test the stone first before committing to it. You might find it hard to walk on and nothing will roll in it. People who use a cane or walker have difficulty on stone and if you have to shovel snow, some of the stone will end up being thrown to the side every winter. I use mason line (a type of heavy string) and wooden stakes to get the layout approximately how I want it. Some people might layout a hose or rope on the ground. Some use spray paint. This guides the area to be excavated. You will need some type of edging to hold the brick in place. When you install the edging after excavating, you will measure the width every few feet to make sure the edging is consistently spaced and that you have a straight line for the distance of your walkway.
