How do you remove black mold spots around edge of bathtub?
Bathfitters replaced a tub in one of our rentals a few years ago. There are some black mold spots on the caulking where the top of tub and back wall meet.
Home Depot sells a caulking removal tool
A single edge razor blade paint scraper get behind the old caulk as will a small, thin kitchen knife. Remove every little bit. Be sure the area is super dry AND mold free and then recaulk. It not difficult but does require some patience.
Peel off all the old caulk, some may need to be carefully cut with a razor. Totally clean up the area, bleaching away the mold etc. Allow it to totally dry, over night would be ideal. Caulk with silicone caulk and do not get it wet for 24 hours.
Great. Thank you.
They make a tool for that, but I've used a putty knife, being careful not to scratch the tile or tub.
