there is a way to unplug a toilet if you don't have a plunger-1/4 cup dish soap over the mess let sit for a good hour. next hot water, not boiling-just real hot. pour it over the mess. try flushing. you may have to repeat, but that would be unusual.
There is a correct way to use a plunger. Most people just plop it in and start to push water around. Get a good one with the ball shape not the half cup shape. The amount of air force in the ball shaped one is greater. The object of the plunger is to get the air force to push the clog down the pipe. Look up a video on proper use of plunger, it DOES make a difference on how you use it....success of not.
