Hi Karen, most blinds have little ball stoppers if you look along the bottom that conceal the string. Pull the stoppers out, pull the string out, untie the string, take the bottom portion off and then pull off as many vinyl slats as you like. Then put the bottom back on, retie the string and put the little ball stoppers back on. Hope that helps!
Be sure to leave sufficient amount of slats at the bottom to act as 'weight' rather than just removing all up to the exact height of the window.
Otherwise there will not be enough weight to allow the blind to unfurl naturally without having to tug it down.
