How hard is it to make cabinet with shelves?
I sold my china cabinet and would like to have more storage by making my one wall with cabinets and shelving to display my glass collection. Possibly have glass doors? Just wondering if this is something too hard and expensive to take on?Sincerely,~ Lisa

Unless you have lots of experience in woodworking it would be a hard job. It will be more expensive than a new China cabinet but get some prices. Have a cabinet co come out and give you some prices. Sounds like a gear idea, kinda like a butler's cabinet.
You can use premade kitchen cabinets on bottom and add shelves on top here are some ideas/videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXUp1hdyyJw more https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=diy+built+ins+with+stock+cabinets
Lisa,
If you have facebook marketplace, you might be able to find a nice used one for a reasonable price.
I'd encourage you to build your own cabinets if you are inclined to learn or already have at least some woodworking experience. There are places you can find free plans, like Ana-Whitedotcom. She has a plan called the "shanty sideboard and hutch", and some people have used the plans to create a built-in cabinet. The plans include a step-by-step guide and a material list. Read the plans fully and decide if it's something you want to take on, and to make sure you have all of the tools and materials on-hand before you get started. You could also have someone build it according to the plan specifications plus the custom touches you wanted, such as making the same doors on the lower cabinet for the upper, but replacing the wood panel with glass.
