How do I fix a hole in a wall?

    Depends on how big. If small just use wall patch. If larger may need to get a piece of drywall to fill in, then patch. May want to watch a video on drywall repair on you tube for more specifics.

    Cut a piece of cardboard a bit bigger than the hole, poke a hole in the center of the cardboard to feed a string through, knot the string so it can't pull through, feed the cardboard into the hole in the wall, keep tension on the string as you lather the sheetrock compound over the hole. Snip off string after compound dries...and finish with as many light coats as you need.

    Hi ! First think outside the box .... Can I use this hole here ? Is it in a good spot for a shelf ...If so , try making an inset shelf between the wall studs ! Look at my tutorial on this site called how I fixed a hole in my wall ....

    Good idea Pamela (to add a self if you can). I had two holes in one wall (one top of wall and one above the baseboard). I put two smoke detectors on the wall. Landlord thanked me for the great idea! Post some pictures after you've patched it. Process could be helpful.
