If you have not yet washed and dried the comforter you should be able to remove the blood. Soaking and rinsing in COLD water is the key! Don't use hot water. If you have already washed and dried the comforter the blood stain will be set in from the heat and very difficult to remove. I work at a large resort doing laundry. I wash LOTS of white comforters every day. If it is small blood stains you can give it a scrub with some liquid Tide and a toothbrush and then give it a spray of Krud Kutter for removing dried paint and brush that in as well. Wash the comforter in cold water. Krud Kutter can be used on fabric--I just wouldn't use it all the time and I wouldn't use a whole lot of it.

Try peroxide
I would not advise using peroxide, as it may remove the color from the fabric.
If the blood has already dried, then I would recommend using meat tenderizer.
This will break down the protein found in blood, facilitating washing it away.
1.Make a paste with the tenderizer powder first, and rub it into the blood stains until you can see the color lightening. Rinse away.
2. Wash and rinse pr usual method.
Depending on the thickness of the fabric, and the size of the stain, you may need to repeat step one as necessary.
Hi Kathy, sorry you have blood on your comforter. Hydrogen peroxide will remove blood.
Another vote for peroxide. It seems to eat the blood. My son has nose bleeds all the time and this works great.
If you're worried about it ruining the colors, try oxi-clean which also contains peroxide, but it more gentle and made for fabrics.
