How do I get rid of wasp and dirt divers without hurting my plants?
I just recently moved and I have several large tropical plants on a small deck. Since moving I have been bothered with rather large wasp and dirt divers and I don't want to bring them in the house when the weather changes....what do I do?

Carefully look for the wasps hive, and in the evening when they go to roost, spray them With a wasp killer. I don’t know what dirt divers are.
Are they actually in your plant or just buzzing around it? Some just take wood, pieces to chew up and use to build a nest. They don't live in your plant. If there IS a nest in your plant spray it with Hornet and Wasp Spray. In a day or two wash it off the leaves when you are sure they are gone. Always do a spray cleaning of your plants before you bring inside for the fall.
My good friend put up a full paper bag (full of newspapers or plastic bags wadded) to make it look full and hanged it under the eaves of her front and back porch. All the wasps and such left thinking it is a territory of another wasp or paper wasp. They are territorial and won't go where others already claim the area. It fooled them and she never has trouble anymore!
I am not familiar with hose bugs. But where I live, I place a few moth balls on the soil, and cover with a paper bag. Leave over night. Next day remove the mother balls (they can be reused) , and the bag . Critters will have left. Plants can then be brought in doors.
You may want to try moth balls to keep them away.
