How can I remove a stain from cultured marble?
A small wooden box (painted pale yellow) sat on a cultured marble vanity top for several years. When I recently moved it, I noticed the paint color had bled into the cultured marble and discolored it under the box. How do I restore the cultured marble to the original color without damaging the top?

The yellow is not from the box itself, just a coincidence. It. Could have been any color. Once you leave something set on cultured marble for awhile it turns the shape of object yellow on the top. It traps the gases from the plastic marble and kinda burns the top. It will sometimes lighten over time if left clear, but that is just one of the bad side effects petroleum based products like cultured marble.
Hi Meg,
I agree with Kelli. When you leave something in one place on most material for a long time, then move it, it will be discolored underneath. That's because the gases or moisture will not be able to move from the surface so they leave a mark. You could try having a professional repolish it, but there are no guarantees with this process. Wishing you the best.

I’ve had some success with Ajax with bleach and “polishing” my yellow-spotted vanity.
Ive also used a paste of oxygenated bleach powder.
Peroxide did nothing. Acetone did nothing.
If you’re going to sell the house, I’d coat it with a plastic laminate coating system.
