I am personally not a fan of most granite. I adore marble, but it can be fussy and stains easily. So if you want a pristine appearance, marble is not for you. There are so many options out there, be sure to explore them all before deciding. Visit a kitchen and bath showroom or a stoneyard to see, touch and feel the different options.
Granite requires yearly sealing. Real marble will stain. Commercial products that use ground up granite do not stain and do not require sealing . These are available at home stores like Lowes and Home Depot.
I have marble and it requires careful cleaning and sealing. I use coasters, and pads to protect it. If you don't want all the upkeep, go with quartz. I love mine, but they are some work.
Quartz is expensive but it doesn’t require sealing.
