Hi, Amy. The type of ant you've got and the type of cactus (indoor or out side) makes a little difference - but this is a general ant killer. Depending on how much you need, mix 1 part sugar to 2 parts Boric Acid powder. Pour in small amounts of water to make a paste. Drop blobs of paste on a surface (cardboard from a cereal box works well) or you can just plop it without a base - right on the ant trail. The ants will eat the bait and die. Another Hometalk favorite is 2 cups Vinegar, 2 cups Water, 3 tbs. Blue Dawn and 3 tbs. table salt. It all gets mixed in a spray bottle and sprayed on the ants. Make sure you shake the mixture well each time you spray. It won't hurt the cactus unless you totally drench it.
Hi Amy,
Here's an article that can help. Basically you wash them off then then you put a circle of borax based ant traps around them. Take a few minutes to read this article to see if there is anything else there that will help you. Wishing you the best.

use a mixture of borax, something sweet such as sugar, syrup, or honey with a little water and put it in a small container such as a bottle cap or jar lid. make sure it is not accessible to pets or children.
Yes, a bait trap with borax and sugar should do the trick: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/pest-repeller/quick-dyi-sweet-bait-to-treat-and-get-rid-of-your-ants-18515410
