Should I paint my top or bottom cabinets the lighter color?
Which is best, paint the top or bottom kitchen cabinets a different color. Should the top or bottom be lighter or darker? I want to lighten the look, right now the cabinets are dark brown.

Best is what you like. Traditionally the darker color goes on the base cabinets and lighter color on top. Doing it the other way around can make the room "feel" heavy and closed in. Your house, do what pleases you.
Thank you. That's why my title was lighten up.
I would paint the bottom cabinets darker than the top cabinets.
I think light on top would be better.
