How do I take care of my plants when I'm away?
I have a balcony with potted plants. I stood them in bowls of water, but it became very hot while I was away for five days. One was at deaths door when I returned, and the others were wilting. I fed and watered them, and they are much better, but should I have brought them indoors for that period?

I live in Phoenix, AZ, how do I care for my Hibiscus plant? (in a pot
It is doing well in the summer heat but I am not sure how well it will survive the 30 deg. winter.
If I'm going away for more than a few days I usually "super soak" my plants that are in pots. By that I mean I fill a bucket and place each plant in, one at a time. The water should be over the top of the planter and the plants should stay in until the bubbling stops. That indicates that the entire contents is saturated and should be enough for the plant to be happy for a week or so
I’m not sure if this would work with your plant or not. I had a peace lily plant when I was in college. When I’d go home on break, I’d water it and then tie it up in a huge plastic bag. The bag would help keep it moist and watered.
