How do I replace a bathroom cabinet top??

I have a built-in 6 drawer cabinet in my bathroom that has a Formica countertop. I want to update it with paint and hardware but need help with the top. First on how to remove the current one and then on what to use to replace it. The whole solid surface process seems expensive and difficult. Suggestions please.

Check local stone yards, sometimes they have deals on left over pieces of marble or granite. They'll even cut it for you for an extra fee. The current top is likely held on with screws that can be removed from underneath. If the entire unit was built together and you can't remove just the top you can consider using a counter-top coating like one of these products - https://amzn.to/30XNkO0

Go to your local home improvement store and tell then you want to paint the Formica counter top and they will help you get exactly what you need for the job. If you are just going to paint, you don't need to replace the top, just get what is necessary to prep the Formica.

Paint instead of replace. Rustoleum, Daich, or Giani countertop paint kits.

Pull out the top drawers and see if the top is screwed in from underneath (probably is). Unscrew. You should cut around the perimeter of the top first with a utility knife and remove the faucet to the sink. Finally, use a mallet to knock the top up and off.

Constructed in place. More likely caulked or glued to the cabinet.

What about trying a dremel cutter from underneath to cut through the caulk/glue???

I would say leave counter because it does look still good and paint cabinet add new hardware
