How can I texture sheetrock walls?
I have kitchen walls that were never textured since they put wallpaper on them. The wallpaper has been removed, sheetrock and sheetrock paper in good shape. Can you successfully texture the walls by having paint department add some sort of texture material to the paint? If so, then what type of roller would you use?

They have special rollers at the store where they add the silica to the paint. I bought mine at True Value Hardware.
You can add a few different things to walls to get more texture. You can also texture the walls and just paint over it with regular paint. I would suggest that if you want to add things to the paint to try it out on a big piece of cardboard to see if you like it before you paint your walls.
