Hi Joyce,
Remove the sand and fill with concrete. Lay Paving slabs. Lay Artificial Grass. It all depends on how deep it is. Might be easier to remove and just use the area without the box.
I would remove the sandbox foundation and use the area. You might be able to get a larger cement patio out of it.
We just put in a patio in the Fall. You might want to look at my post.... https://karupp-did.net/pour-a-cement-pad-diy/. In the patio post I describe:
-how to order concrete
-how much concrete mix you would need to order
-what materials you will need to use
-pics of the process of pouring the cement.
The area was prepped before we poured the concrete with crush and run and stone aggregate and to figure out how we did that you might want to look at the previous post https://karupp-did.net/building-a-retaining-wall/. even though you probably won't need the retaining wall, it will give you the information needed to prep the area before pouring cement. Good luck!
Joyce....A picture of the sandbox would be nice with dimensions! Thanks
I would remove the sandbox then here are some instructions on how to do a concrete slab: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1XFWNT7pAM
I am guessing you will need to cover it?
