Hi Christine, here's youtube video on how to paint a sunflower: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjIlK--nIY4
Hi Christine, here is a quick video on painting a sunflower, depending what kind of material the table is, there are several types of paints you can use, including the acrylic in the above lesson, you will just need to clear coat it with a gloss or matte coating to keep it looking great
Hi Christine, this isn't quite a sunflower, but here is a flower I painted on a round table... http://www.recreateddesigns.com/2015/06/sunshiny-yellow-flower-table/
If you are good at freehand use chalk to draw the flower. If not use transfer paper and trace the design onto the paper and then turn it over and trace over the design again. The pencil on the other side will transfer to the table. Then you can paint it.
Yeesh! You've chosen a really complicated image for your first paint job! Find a picture that you like and that you feel you can recreate the details from. You can take a digital copy of it to a printer that prints architectural blueprints (you'll have to call around. I'm pretty sure Kinko's does this). Ask what the largest size is that they can print before you go in so you can plan what you want by looking at the table at home. Write down what size image you want.
You can either use a ballpoint pen to trace the details onto the tabletop by pressing down - or - get some carbon paper (office supply store/where you get your architectural copy). This will be 8.5 x 11" but I think it still will be easier to move the carbon paper underneath your flower as you go. Don't press so hard as to dent the wood but hard enough to get a clear line from the carbon paper on the table.
To make this easier (will still require extreme patience!) you could trace/follow the dents with a paint pen. Paint the insides of each petal with a tiny brush afterward. Or make monotone. Or paint the entire flower and then trace the dents with paint pen. Or paint the entire flower, then carbon paper, then trace lines with marker or paint pen.
Good luck! 😎
