It depends on what is causing the odor as to whether it will return, but if there is a place to rent an ozone machine near you, that would be the best option.
IT helps to find the cause of the odor. Is there a leak? Has the carpet gotten wet, and may have mildew, even under the carpet? Musty smells are a sign of dampness. Consider a dehumidifier.
Soft surfaces, moisture, poor air circulation all contribute to musty odors. A dehumidifier might help. But, I would try to investigate the underlying problem.
Get a dehumidifier and clean everythingt well.
If the musty smell seems to be emanating from a small area like a closet or cupboard, grab some baking soda! Place a small dish of baking soda in the enclosed area for up to 24 hours. The baking soda will absorb excess moisture and odors, and leave things smelling much fresher.
