By "better", what are you looking for? It may be something as simple as changing swapping the hardware for a different style or finish, or maybe painting the doors. The center panel could also be stenciled or even narrow wood trim used to create a different look. I hope this sparks an idea! If you have further questions, please ask!
Give them a good cleaning with a degreaser that is safe for wood. Once they are clean, if you don't like their look you can use something like Old English Scratch Cover to do a superficial makeover. Of course, you can completely refinish them or paint them as well.

I would paint them! First clean your doors with a good TSP cleaner. Next use a chalky based paint to paint your cabinets and then use a good sealer.
