How can I get rid of hornet nests that are in the ground?

I have a large yard with Hornet nests in the ground and they are Evil.What is the best way to eliminate them Tim R.

Look on line, at YT. This requires a shop vac, a shovel and a bee-keepers’ outfit.
You can use wasp and hornet spray. I use spray carburetor cleaner. Do it after dusk when they are in the nest and dormant.
Definitely get a bee keeper's suit as Cheryl said, but we wait until dark, and either pour gasoline down their hole, or use sevin dust or tempo dust. I hate using the chemicals and try not to in every other instance, but like you said, they are evil! Lol!
