I really don't like painted steps and my husband caulked the porch where there were cracks and I don't like the looks of it at all. Any suggestions?
Use a chisel and wire brush to rough up the surface and remove any loose concrete.
Clean the surface thoroughly to remove any dust.
To repair missing edges, make a wooden form to hold the concrete in place while it sets.
Cover surfaces that will not be repaired with masking tape.

If you are not wanting to do a complete replacement, clean up all broken pieces. Form with plywood. Pour new ready mix in the forms. Finish when it is set to a "gel" like consistency.
I would add, be sure to dampen the old concrete with water and apply some bonding agent with a brush to the old stuff before putting the new concrete on.....
