Can you help me figure out how to install a new ceiling fan?
It's really difficult to do new wiring in the ceiling of a mobile home. There are 2 ceiling fans in my dining-living room area. New fan could be connected to a wall outlet via a wire, like a lamp. New wire draped across ceiling with that looped gold chain and then down wall to outlet. Already existing ceiling fan changed to match new ceiling fan style.Doing this allows me to use the existing flip switch for the original ceiling fan and converting it to a strip outlet to power kitchen counter top appliances (safely-and not drawing too much power at once).I know that the "hanging the wire from the ceiling" looks out of the 1950-1960's. If no other options, Iam willing to deal with the look. Any other options out there? I guess that I could "box in" the ceiling/wall electric feed wire in a shallow container. I don't know if those square metal channels are legal to use in these circumstances...

You could use metal clad cable or steel conduit to surface mount wires if you want it to be flush to the ceiling and then paint it. This would likely be up to electrical code then too. But other than that, there isn't anything wrong with your proposal.
Steel conduit. I could make that flush. It's a better idea. Thanks for sharing. Can never see all the options from my own viewpoint. Can be too close to the problem.
I can do everything safely except adding to an electrical box. This is like rewiring a simple lamp. Just make sure that the ceiling fan already hardwired is not on a live live. But electricians are excellent advice is things get complicated. Thanks again.
Sounds like you have an idea of what you are doing. You can hide in wiremold channels instead of hanging and chaining. Make sure you use the metal ones. The plastic ones are for low voltage wiring.
