Hi,
I'm not clear on what exterior design you mean, but do any of these help: https://www.hometalk.com/search/videos?filter=concrete%20flower%20pot?
Hi Sharon. I'm Cindy. You could put large leafs inside the mold that you're using. Lay them in the mold and then add the concrete. Once dry you can remove the mold and you will be left with the imprints from the leafs. Sharon, I watch a lady by the name of Helen Wyatt from Georgia. She has a You Tube channel and works with concrete. I'm sure you would get many ideas by watching her. Good luck. Wishing you well.
Some people put Quickrete around a beach ball or bowl turned upside down (plastic to cover bowl first so it can be reused) to form their planter pots. Some people dip the top part of the denim jeans (cut off legs just below crotch) and then paint it the color of denim when it sets up, some people lay a very large leaf like elephant leaf over a mound of sand and put Quickrete cement over those to make a "leaf" bowl. You can virtually use anything that will hold the concrete. I have known people to mix moss in the concrete so it would not be so heavy to lift. Here are two ideas for you, one small and one large.https://www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/garden/easy-diy-concrete-planter-8939467
