Not a good idea to cover a wooden deck with stone, as the deck will deteriorate and the stone will collapse in time. Best to either start again and build a concrete deck and slab that over with stone or consider either refinishing the wooden deck with a stone look, such as Vinyl covering.........

Most decks would not be rated to hold the weight of all that stone, especially if its currently rotting from sun-damage and unmaintained.

Hi Laurie, it's not safe to put stone over the wood as it will deteriorate and cannot handle the weight, hope this helps get the wood cleaned up and looking great!
