I am on the 2nd floor and would like to soundproof my sub floor. What materials can I use to place between the beams before I cover the floor with plywood and tile?

Could you spread insulation between your joists before doing the plywood/tile covering? We used spray on in our attic but on most t.v. home improvement shows they use batting.

Vik....I understand they have material for residential as well as commercial use. Google Impacta Acoustical Floor Underlayments by Sound Seal. Good luck!

You want a product with a high Sound Transmission Coefficient (STC) not a Sound Absorption Coefficient.

I specify Homosote products, as that’s their business - sound mitigation. Music studios, radio station booths, TV studios- they all use Homosote.

Check out their website and see what’s stocked at your local full line lumber yards and most big box stores.

THRIFT STORE BLANKETS or clothes. Pack them tight. They will absorb the sound & because they're inside the floor, you can't see them & company can't see them.
