How do I paint a cheap white bookcase to look like barn wood?
I have a basic white bookcase shelfing unit, and would like to paint it to look similar to barn wood. My son has flooring with gray and black, and wanted to spruce it upto try and match his laminate floors. Wasn't sure where to begin, since it is not real wood.

What color is the rest of the furniture. I would consider painting it plain black. That lest the items stand out - that are placed on it. For a bookcase, most of the "wood" is covered by books, only the edge shows.
