Hello Marilyn! Are you talking about a granny squares made out of yarn or are they made out of something else? Anything you want to decoupage must be very thin--tissue paper or kleenex thickness. Is your chair made from wood? I guess I am not quite sure what you are trying to do! Can you add a picture of your chair? This may give us a better idea of what you are trying to achieve!
DEcoupage is an art form. It is not gluing something to something else.
