    I use carburetor cleaner and spray the ant hill. It attacks the exoskeleton.

    you can sprinkle corn meal on the mound. Iti swells in their digestive system and kills them. there also is a product available at garden nurseries known as Beneficial Nematodes that kills a magnitude of insects. It requires specific application and frequent watering but lasts a couple of years. I had no problem with it affecting my flower bed plants but I did hear from a neighbor that it ruined his vegetable garden. For all I know maybe he didn't apply it properly
