What to plant or do with this side of the yard?

The unseen side of my yard is about 10'x 30' and we just pulled up all of the weeds.
It gets full sun and has a Little Gem Magnolia in the corner. I need to put some low maintenance items there. We had Monkey Grass there and the weeds got so bad, Roundup killed most of it. Any suggestions? I live in Lawrenceville. Mary

Hey Mary, Would it be possible for you to post a picture of the area? Or maybe a bit more description? Things you can do, but need to know a bit more about the surrounding area.

I assume you would want to be able to walk through there, Mary, so you could do a mixed border of smallish shrubs and perennials with a path between them. Gardenias and some of the smaller roses are a couple of things that could work and would pair well with your Little Gem.
