How can I get rid of the lip behind a pre-formed countertop?
Has anyone built out the wall behind their pre formed counter top edge. I want to put up tile or some other material and have it one level all the way down. The pre-formed back lip prevents me from doing this.

Most people install tile above the backsplash. That is what the "lip" is.

Find Out What's So Smart About The Material Of The Week: Smart Tiles
Hi, Sally!
Is there a seam between the 'lip' and the surface of the countertop? If there is, then the 'lip' can be removed. If not, you may be able to build the wall out but that would be a lot of work because outlets and switches would have to be bumped out, as well as any trim or framing around a window, if there is one. Another idea is to build a new flat countertop with plywood and laminate. I hope this helps!
You really cannot remove the lip backsplash and have it look good. It's to thick for tile to hide. Just tile above it.
