How do I make these old drawers slide more easily?
My father's huge, heavy dresser is great... lots of space. But the drawers are so heavy and stick going in and out they almost feel like I'm going to give myself a hernia!! You also have to push/pull from the sides because pulling from the handles make the drawers also wobble. They run on a track. Any good ideas?

Run a candle on the runners
Cindy...You may need to sand a little and try rubbing a bar of soap on the areas for an easier slide. Good luck!
I agree with Margaret. I would use a bar of paraffin on the tracks. It also sounds like the dresser might be a little out of square. Try doing the diagonal measurements to check. If you find it out of square (as I suspect) square it up on the floor and use some cross bracing on the back where no one will see it. Plumbers strap would work.
Rub paraffin on the meeting parts of drawers to keep them working smoothly. You'll find paraffin with the canning supplies in your local grocery store. In a pinch you can also use candles, bar soap or even dry spray lubricant.
