Replace the cushions. Seek out a proper upholstery or foam shop, they are far superior to what is sold in any craft or hobby shop. Old adage is you get what you pay for. Take one of the cushions with you. Many will cut to size for a nominal fee.
I agree with Naomie. We had an upholsterer replace the cushion in a leather chair after 10 years of use. It cost about $50 but our expensive leather chair is good as new.
Our friends at church put some plywood under their cushions on the frame and cushions back over it. It fixed theirs!
I agree with Naomie. To provide proper support, foam must be adequate thickness and density. This does not come cheap, but if the rest of the sofa is still in good shape, the cost of the new foam filling will extend its life and make it more comfortable to use.
