I would go day bed or futon.
Dan...I agree with Kathy on futon or day bed. Then desk, filing cabinet, chair, other necessities for office.
Unless you have the space, Jessica's idea is best, to avoid too much furniture in too little space.
Do like we did and Build your own Murphy Bed - you won't regret it. And here you can see it after I installed an L-Shaped Desk and made over the room. We love it, overall it cost us less than buying even a decent sofabed and it's much more comfy, plus it only takes up 9 sq ft of the room.
I like the idea of a Murphy bed, put it up when not in use, makes a lot of sense. Otherwise you'll have furniture to maneuver around.
