The top of the lamp usually has a cap that unscrews so that the old shade lifts off. Set new shade in place and screw back on
They sell replacement shades at Lowe's and a great selection at At Home. Also check out flea markets and Good Will
Or the shade has a clip on it that allows it to be set directly on the lamp. Are you asking another question about lamps?
All you'll need to do is unscrew the finial at the top or unscrew a ring, take the shade off and replace it with the same type.
