It seams that coat of paint will be only work you need to do. Your dresser the way it is will look beautiful as server. If you like to put more work check this pin https://www.pinterest.com/pin/210613720061604299/

My thought was to move it from the bedroom to the dinning room. I agree with Agnes. It will be excellent as it is or a fresh coat of paint.
Also, you could have a piece of Glass cut to fit the top and just rest it on the top so hot dishes, steam and spills won't damage the paint
I agree with Laura and Agnes. It is a beautiful dresser, even the handles are nice, but if you want to dress it up more put 3 crystal knobs down the center. Also love the glass top idea.
Just use it the way it is.
Paint, glaze, and new knobs, also I lined the bottom of the drawers to protect my China. $60 for the dresser at Goodwill. I used cabinet paint and Purdy brush. No brush marks! if you zoom in you can see the affects of glaze on the light gray.
A “server” to me, has open shelves underneath. If you take the drawers out, then you’ll want to finish the inside of the drawer “boxes”, to match or contrast in a pattern of finishes.
