Hi Dolores, here is how you get new rasberry plants from runners.
Red raspberry varieties propagate readily from runners, which are stems that grow along the ground and produce small, vertical shoots called suckers. The suckers, with part of the runners attached, work as root cuttings. When planted, they grow into new plants identical to the parent raspberry.

Raspberries will multiply if you mulch them and make sure they get watered thoroughly once a week if it does not rain. We also feed ours with miracle grow at least once in the spring. They multiply like weeds under the mulch!
We stick a runner in the soil and secure it down in the soil with a paper clip bent into the shape of a "U" . Works every time!
