How can you stop woodpeckers from attacking your home?
Help!!!!!!...I have a woodpecker attacking my outdoor pillars. Have been filling the holes and covering with metal but new holes appear the next day. Has anyone tried putting suet nearby for them to feed? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We had the same problem even when we have suet out all the time. We started hanging wind chimes or a wind socks and they stopped. You have to leave them out all year because they will do it any time.
I was thinking more about this since I first gave you an answer. Woodpeckers are usually looking for insects when they continue to peck at your house. I never realized you could buy a spray repellant for your home to keep them away. There is also a paint additive you can add to paint if you are thinking of repainting. Although I am not a fan of using chemicals I understand the damage woodpeckers can do to your house. When it was time to replace our wood siding we switched to Hardy cement board siding due to the woodpecker damage we had in the old siding. Looks like wood but the woodpeckers can't harm it.

Check the pillars and surrounding ground surfaces closely.
Your outdoor pillars may be infested with wood boring insects. You may want to treat the wood before further internal damage occurs.
