Can you help me figure out why the figs on my tree never ripened?
I recently moved into a new home and was thrilled to find that there was a full size fig tree. The figs were grown to almost full size however they were hard as rocks and never ripened. That being said I don’t know if the tree was cared for properly. Anyway, any advice and or tips to have success for next season would be appreciated. I live in Long Island NY so that might affect what has to be done. Thank you !

For the best and (free), local info, contact your local Ag Extension. For me it is incessant heat. I water them like crazy and still "iffy" at best. Have lost several crops due to heat and wind damage.
Hi Maria,
It's possible that they didn't get enough water during the transition between 2 owners. Here's an article that might help for next season. Wishing you the best.

Hello, for the best local professional advice
I would highly suggest contacting your cooperative extension. These offices are manned by volunteer master gardeners on site there waiting to answer the communities questions that know your local situation quite well.
Master gardeners are required to volunteer back designated hours ( plus continuing education) each year to maintain MG certification -this community outreach and education is their goal.
