I laid paver tiles with sand to make a patio. Over time some of the bricks settled. All i do when this happens is pop up that brick and add sand then replace. You dont even have to pop it out. Just up enough so sand can be put on the uneven side to leval it. I also put a fresh layer of sand between the bricks. Remember you dont want perfectly level. You need a little slant for water run off.
We put slate on the front entrance patio. It looks nice, but it continually flakes off. Is there any thing that we can put on it to seal it to prevent the flaking? ...

What exactly is the issue? Can you share a photo?
I think it would have to be retiled in order to level it.
