Many times, a sled just needs a clear coat on the wood and some paint for the metal runners. Each may need a light sanding first.
Grapevines can be sprayed with clear Krylon to prevent peeling.
Look up sleds online to see ideas of old sleds. You can replicate the original design some had arrows or a name, or just stain with any color. Sand the runners and metal fronts and use a primer paint like Rustoleum to do the metal.
Hi Sandra, hope this helps you out.
