Colleen...Use a scentsy pot with the scented wax.
First you may want to see if there's something that's contributing to the smell. Test the humidity levels and if necessary, get a dehumidifier for the space. Otherwise, you can open a bag of charcoal to help eliminate the smell. Good luck!
Find what is the source: old carpet? Damp drywall? Mildew? Address the source.
If you can’t find it. I would buy a dehumidifier that has a “hose bib”, a 10’ long drain hose for it, a 10’ 2x2 to attach the hose to
and set the dehumidifier on a 2’+ table or pedestal and run the drain hose to the floor drain. Let it run.
Energy Star units, small capacity (capacity doesn’t matter because of the 24/7 drain hose) are not expensive.
After you determine what is smelling musty, clean it with an anti-microbial product. If it kills bacteria, that is not what is making the smell- mold is.
The other thing to use is a HEPA Filter on both the furnace and a free standing unit. The good ones are not cheap, but they don’t need a floor drain.
Remove any moisture source. You might need a dehumidifier or damp rid products. Then clean with white vinegar to kill any spores. Finally, odoban is a great deodorizer and disinfectant.
Find the source and clean with vinegar. Also, Damp rid is amazing!
