How do I use large wood letters to make an outdoor sign?
I bought large wood letters to spell "Joy to the World" for a Christmas card sign. We have an 8 month puppy that destroys everything so I need Christmas decor without lights so she won't hurt herself if she bites into it. What do I put the letters on and how do I keep it upright?

I have a small patio and think about painting my fence on the inside so I can put some colorful decor up. Is this a good idea?
You could mount on a pallet or piece of plywood with triangle shaped 2x4s on the back to support, tying together with a 2x4 running the width of the wood.
I would mount them on a board and mount the board to a hard surface like the siding. If you don't want to damage the walls you could use command hooks, they come in all shapes and sizes for different weights. If it's going to be on the lawn instead you could build brackets (in an L shape or a triangle) behind the board from 2x4's so it just stands up.
How big are the letters? I would put them on some plywood or mount on slats. Paint the wood to contrast the letters. I would use Red letters and white wood.
