How do you get paint to stay on a dried gourd, and not peel off?
I have painted dried gourds and after cleaning and priming, they still peel after several months outside. I used rustolem enamel paint . Rustolem customer service said I may have got a bad batch but since I sell these at craft shows, I want them to last longer.

Painted gourds have never lasted at my house outside - ever - so don't feel bad. I would tell your customers to bring inside when inclement weather is expected. I know that's common sense, but most people need the reminder. In addition, don't place in the path of a sprinkler or set in full sun all day either.
You should use gourd stains or paint for gourds. I have one thats hung outside for 3 years now and still the same. Welburn Gourd farm in Calif. can help you if you email them. I also spray painted mine with clear spray paint. Good luck
Only thing I know that lasts outside is marine paint..... Rustoleum makes it in the quart size.
Remember with gourds, the stains seep into the skin of the gourd. I made several of them and loved doing it. Hope your Marine poly works for you. I loved their stains, Not the ink stains, but their stains and there colors are so pretty and go on and dry almost instantly. Good luck it is a great hobby.
