So sorry for your loss. What exactly is the material the mold is constructed from. Makes a difference as to what to use to seal. Can you post a photo? Do you know who did the mold for you?
Judith I need to ask you some questions. When I was reading this, my husband who is a sculptor walked by and so I asked him (I read your entire paragraph) do you mean that what you have is like the actual hand and foot? I mean that you can hold, or do you have an impression of the hand and foot in something else? Can you take pictures of these and post them here? If they are plaster you do not want them to be filled with moisture they should dry out. But it is hard to advise anything to do as these are so precious to you. Please post pics. My husband casts lots of things in plaster but they are always then exposed to the air.
Exactly. You can seal something that is moist. Usually moisture will deteriorate it quicker. Who made the mold. You may need to ask them. So sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry, but what a sweet thing to cherish. Check to see what material they used to make the molds and see if you can make silicone mold of them. Then you can use those molds to make a cement cast.
