How to Make a DIY Faux Stone Column Using Pool Noodles
Hi there Patricia,
Tape them together to form the shape you require. Add a disk or two to the top and bottom and finish of a larger square or two on top then paint for the right effect.. ( Stone or Marble or decorate with faux Ivy draped around them.) Hope that helps.
Hi Patricia. I'm Cindy. I believe TR gave you the DIY you asked about. I would like to suggest an alternative that I made this summer. I found 2 sets of short shutters at Habitat for Humanity. I cleaned them and attached the 2 sets together using L brackets. Once I had them in the shape of a square, I put more L brackets 6 inches down inside the square and placed a piece of wood on top of them. Then I applied 2 coats of white spray paint that I had on hand. I placed a potted plant right on the piece of wood. It looks great. I put it next to my front door. When I saw your question I wanted to share my column with you.
Hi Patricia, I found the hometalk version for you, hope it helps

In addition to what JohnVallance said, you may want to get some Texture Additives for your paint to give it that coarse stony look.
