Hi Usha,
If you're concerned about watering your plants, fill up an old soda or wine bottle with water and stick the opening in the dirt. Water will seep out of the bottle when the dirt dries. Here's a tutorial that shows that and a couple of other ideas. Wishing you the best.

I used to do this all the time when we would go on vacation. I would set up my plants with a string coming out of the soil from the bottom of the pot and have the string long enough to be submerged into a container of water (ie: old yogurt containers) that would be enough water to last while we were gone. The plant drinks itself using this method. This is called a watering wick system. Since then though I have bought those pretty glass balls that you add water to and submerge the pointy end of it in dirt.

The plant drinks what it needs as well. If you are referring to making an actual pot that is self watering, check out this you tube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qlKw70-1XQ. Good luck!
Hi ! I saw this tip recently , but have not tried it yet ! Take a cotton rope , like clothes line . Cut it in pieces about 2-3 feet , depending how much room you need . The idea is to place one end into the dirt of the plant and the other end in a bucket of water or gallon jug . I would tie a rock to the bottom of the rope that goes into the water, to keep it from floating . The water is supposed to be sucked up into the rope as needed . I do have terra cotta clay spikes that screw onto a standard quart or half gallon soda bottle , you will the bottle with water , screw on the spike and then it upside down with the spike in the dirt of the plant . I bought the spikes on Amazon .
You can either ask a neighbor to do it for you, or you could fill old wine bottles with water, and tip them upside down. They'll keep watering your plants as the soil needs it
