Dusty....Can you send a picture of the statue, please? Thanks
Hi Dusty! Click on the little camera icon and upload a picture.
Dark wax? Yes, you can.
If the statue is going to be outside you don't want to use wax. Any sun or heat will melt the wax and cause it to blister. You can just use a bit of dark stain on a rag, wiping it on and then after a few minutes wiping off as much as you'd like. If it doesn't come off well, a bit of mineral spirits on the rag will help to remove more stain. I would use a light touch with the stain until you feel confident in what you are doing.
Yes. Rubnbuff might be an option.
I’ve used Rub n buff on picture frames and pewter candlesticks to add an aged patina. It’s a waxy rub on that worked well for my needs. It can lighten or darken.
Have a look at the website possible color options, reviews Q&A to to see if it’s a product you might wish to consider.

Hi Dusty,
Not sure you can without rubbing down the surface to get a rough finish like eggshell. Perhaps try gently pouring a thick glutinous varnish over it and let it dry, and or maybe use some acrylic art paints to feather in greenish water marks etc.
Sorry never done this myself but wish you luck. Do practice the effect before commiting to a large project!
