Hi Marsha, a little curtain with a sun blocking fabric could look quite nice. And you can buy magnetic curtain rods in case your door is metal.

Amazon and Lowes sells sun blocking window film. It is not tacky at all
Have you considered privacy window film, they have some beautiful patterns at diy stores and of course Amazon, it would not take much to put a semi-transparent layer on your window.
I hung a drapery rod over top so I can open and close at will. See my photo for specifics.
Hi Marsha,
We used a sun blocking film on our windows that had the same problem. You don't even know that it's there. Just follow the installation directions that come with the product. We got ours on Amazon. Wishing you the best.
Window film comes in a wide variety of colors, patterns and designs including stained glass.... I got mine on amazon, best selection..... https://www.amazon.com/s?k=window+film+stained+glass&crid=31SJJNU48RJ6R&sprefix=window+film%2Caps%2C288&ref=nb_sb_ss_i_5_11
I opted for leaf pattern on my bedroom transome windows to make it look natural and reduce light.... https://www.amazon.com/s?k=window+film+green+leaves&ref=nb_sb_noss
We have a window on our back door and we actually hung a valance over the window.
We use window film that we purchased off of Amazon on a pair of french doors. It works great! Still lets a little light in, but not too much!

has lots of options.
Hi Marsha, you can make a little blind yourself with construction paper or craft paper. If you size it right, it should stick in there without adhesives.

My neighbor used cardboard and covered it with fabric. She made a paper stencil first so it would fit in the half moon. It looks wonderful and blocks 100% of the sun.
If you dont want to do that you can buy some window film.
