Can I upcycle button cell batteries?
I have a bunch of button cell batteries that are spent. Can I use then in multi media art projects or will the adhesives and paints that will cover or encase them become a problem down the road? Not sure it is a good idea to repurpose them, but it sure is tempting! Thanks for any science or opinions on this subject.

Old batteries can bulge, corrode and explode, so I'd be careful with long-term storage.
Hi Jackie,
I think a lot of us would love to find ways to safely use old batteries - of any kind. However, as Laura pointed out, they can be dangerous. I personally would proceed with caution. Wishing you the best.

Throw them out! They are not only corrosive but a swallowing hazard for children and pets.
I wouldn't risk it. Dispose of them properly.
Most areas have recycling for hazardous waste like batteries. Check with your municipality.
