Hi Maddy, try putting in a bit of vinegar and add some baking soda. Top it up with really hot water and let it sit for a bit.
Then take a bottle brush to the inside, should make it easier to get the stains out.
You can try using a denture cleaning tablet and letting it soak for a while. You can also use warm water, baking soda, and a bit of vinegar and let that soak. Cleaning it with a textured kitchen sponge will also help but you may have to scrub a bit. I would NOT use anything any more abrasive than a textured kitchen sponge to clean it as it would get scratched.
Step 1
Pour 2 tablespoons of baking soda into the empty coffee mug.
Step 2
Pour 1/4 cup of distilled white vinegar or apple cider vinegar into the stainless steel mug also.
Step 3
Watch the two ingredients foam when combined. This deodorizes and disinfects the mug.
Step 4
Twist the lid onto the stainless mug, and shake for 5 seconds.
Step 5
Pour out the mixture and rinse the mug with hot water.
Step 6
Wipe the interior of the coffee mug with a wet cloth, and rinse the mug again with hot water.

Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide into a paste, then scrub. Rinse with boiling water.
Hi Maddy. I'm Cindy. Sprinkle a little baking soda into the mug. Add just enough hot water to make a paste. Scrub with a non-abrasive scrubbie. The gentle abrasion of the baking soda will get rid of the stains. Then rinse and wash the mug with clean water. Good luck Maddy and happy holidays.
Salt also works if you don't have baking soda to hand
A green nylon scrubby and Dawn works well.
This method is for a coffee pot but it might work for the cup too: Salt and Ice Method
bleach
I would simply mix a bleach solution and let it sit for 30 minutes.
